Austin Poker – Online Poker
Whatever your favorite game of online poker is, there are dozens of online poker sites to choose from. Whether you want the experience of playing at Pokerstars or one of the smaller online poker sites like Aced.com, online poker is only a keystroke away.
Online poker has been around for over a decade with the popularity growing significantly in the past few years. Online poker games can be played for fun or for real money. Remember that if online poker is illegal where you live than you should only play at online poker sites that offer ‘play money’ games.
Online poker is a lot different from playing live poker in that you cannot physically see your opponents. The hardest thing about that is that you cannot get a good read on the persons face. If you opponent has a tell, like scratching their ear during live poker games, it is impossible to tell whether they are scratching that ear will playing online poker. In online poker, you really have to pay close attention to how a player bets during the different stages of a hand. It can be much harder to tell also if they are trying to make a bluff. That is quite challenging at some online poker tournaments where players are quickly eliminated and you move to a new table every few minutes.
Another obstacle to overcome while playing online poker is the time constraints. While playing live poker, you generally will be able to have a few minutes in which to make a difficult call, but in online poker you have a timer and if you don’t act before the timer runs out then your hand is automatically folded. Normally you have a 15 second clock to work with and if you choose to hit the extra time button, you will have about 60 seconds more in which to make a decision. Can you imagine if that happened during live poker?
Online poker also offers turbo games where you literally have seconds to make your decision to call, check, raise or fold.
A nice thing about online poker is that you never have to leave the comfort of your home to play. If you live in Bemidji, Minnesota or Kuna, Idaho or any other place on the planet that is far away from a live casino or cardroom, it can be hard to find a good game of Hold’em. Players from all over the world are logging on to play online poker, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, especially at Aced Poker. Or you can log on to play online poker if you moved away from poker buddies and are dying to play a game of Badugi, then head on over to Carbon Poker.
